Therapy That Fits Your Life

Therapy beyond the counselling room

Finding the right setting for counselling to take place plays a big role in how much you can get out of therapy sessions. Your needs, preferences and circumstances will be unique to you, which is why I believe counselling should be accessible via different delivery methods. Whether you prefer the traditional setting of a counselling room, the comfort of your own home, or the openness of being outdoors, there’s a way for us to work together that feels right for you.

In Person Counselling

For many people, meeting face-to-face in a counselling room offers a sense of safety and containment. My counselling space in Wickford provides a calm, confidential environment where you can explore your thoughts and feelings without interruption.

Who this might suit: Those who value a dedicated therapeutic space, appreciate face-to-face connection, and prefer a consistent physical setting for their sessions.

NB: My counselling space is not suitable for those with severe cat allergies.

Video-call Counselling

If you can’t make it to my counselling room, or if you simply feel more comfortable in your own space, having sessions via video-call offers a flexible alternative. Using secure, confidential platforms (VSee or Doxy.me), you can have sessions in an already familiar and comfortable environment, which can often help with the initial stages of nerves when starting your counselling journey.

Who this might suit: Those with busy schedules, mobility difficulties, caring responsibilities, or anyone who finds it easier to open up from the comfort of their own home.

Telephone Counselling

Sometimes seeing someone face-to-face (even on a screen) can feel overwhelming; you might find it easier to talk without the added dimension of being watched, or it might leave you feeling more able to move about (stim) during sessions without feeling self-conscious. Telephone counselling offers the same therapeutic space, just without the visual element.

Who this might suit: Those who find eye contact difficult, feel anxious about being on camera, or simply prefer the anonymity and ease of a phone conversation.

Email Therapy

Email therapy works differently to traditional talking therapy. Rather than meeting at a set time, we exchange structured emails on agreed dates – you send your email on a set day, and I respond on an agreed day. This gives you time to reflect and articulate your thoughts in writing, and me time to respond thoughtfully.

Please note: Email therapy is not suitable for crisis support, those experiencing suicidal urges or urgent situations. If you need immediate help, please refer to my resources page.

Who this might suit: Those who process their feelings better through writing, prefer time to think about their responses, have unpredictable schedules that make regular appointments difficult, or find real-time conversations overwhelming.

Outdoor Therapy (Walk and Talk)

There’s something powerful about being in nature while exploring difficult feelings. Outdoor therapy sessions take place at either Wickford Memorial Park or Runwell Park, where we walk and talk together in a natural setting.

Important: Outdoor therapy can only take place after at least one traditional in-person counselling session. This helps us establish a therapeutic relationship and ensures this approach is right for you.

Who this might suit: Those who feel more comfortable talking while moving, find nature calming, or feel restricted by the formality of a counselling room.

Still Not Sure?

If you’re unsure which option might work best for you, that’s completely fine. We can discuss this during our initial phone call or first session, and you’re welcome to try different settings to see what feels right for you.

Feel free to get in touch if you have any questions about any of these options.

All sessions cost £65, regardless of the delivery method.
